How can I adjust tax exemptions on a case-by-case basis?
If you do not need to generate reports on tax-exempt bookings, you can make adjustments directly within individual events:
- Open the event in question.
- Click on the Docs tab and select Contract & Event Order.
- Scroll to the Billing Widget.
- Remove the percentage listed to the right of the tax line so the Tax Amount is $0.
- Add "- Exempt" to the text of the tax line (e.g., "Sales Tax - Exempt").
- Save changes: Click Update at the bottom of the page.
This process ensures that the event's documentation reflects its tax-exempt status without requiring system-wide configuration.
How can I set up reporting for tax-exempt events?
To make it easier to track and report on tax-exempt events, follow these steps to create a custom field:
- Go to Settings > Custom Fields > New Field.
- Set the Field Type to Radio Buttons.
- Title the field Tax Exempt and create two options: Yes and No.
- Assign the field to locations: Select the relevant locations where this field should appear, then click Save.
The custom field can now be used in events. For each event, indicate whether it is tax-exempt by selecting Yes or No in the custom field. Once the custom field is in use, you can generate reports to filter and analyze tax-exempt events:
- Go to the Event Details Report.
- Filter by the Tax Exempt custom field.
- Add the custom field as a column in your report for clear visibility.
This setup provides your team with an efficient way to identify and report on tax-exempt bookings.
