Fees that can be configured for card pricing templates:
- Discount rate: This is the fee charged to a merchant for payment processing services on debit and credit card transactions.
- Transaction fee: This fee is incurred every time a payment is processed.
- Retrieval fee: This fee is charged when a customer or the customer's issuing bank requests a copy of a sales draft to substantiate a transaction.
- Chargeback fee: This fee is incurred when a chargeback is issued for a transaction on the merchant account.
- Reversal fee: This fee is incurred when a chargeback is reversed and funds are returned to the merchant.

- Monthly minimum fee: This fee reflects the minimum amount a merchant must incur in fees. If the merchant processes below the minimum, they are charged for the difference. For example, if the fee is set to $20 and the total processing fees incurred by the merchant is $15, the merchant will be charged $5 for the difference.
Fees that can be configured for direct debit pricing templates:
- Transaction fee: This fee is incurred every time a payment is processed.
- Return fee: This fee is incurred when a merchant's bank account bounces a payment or debit. The return fee amount will also be charged in the case of a chargeback.
- Monthly account fee: This fee is charged monthly to maintain a merchant account.
Dues and Assessment Fees
Dues and Assessment Fees are small charges from the card networks themselves (Visa, Mastercard, Discover, and Amex). These are not charges we add on our end, but they’re required by the networks every time a credit card is used. Here’s what they cover:
- Dues are a small percentage of the transaction amount (usually around 0.13% to 0.15%)
- Assessment Fees are also small, typically in the same percentage range, and can include additional network-related charges depending on the card type or transaction type
These fees are often bundled and billed at different times throughout the month, depending on how the networks process them. Unfortunately, because these come directly from the card brands, we can’t predict the exact amount in advance, but they are always tied to the amount and type of card used.
