Promo codes give guests a discount during the paid Direct Book booking flow, with the discount applied before payment.
Create a promo code
- In Direct Book settings, open the Promo Codes tab (it sits next to Configure, Hours, Rental Fees, and Forms). Click to add a new code.
- Enter a code name (up to 20 characters, letters and numbers). Add an internal description if you want a private note for your team. Guests do not see it. (optional)
- Set the discount: a percentage or a fixed amount. Set a minimum spend if the code should only work above a certain order total. (optional) Set a maximum discount cap if you want to limit how much a percentage code can take off. (optional)
- Set a start date (required) and an expiration date (optional — leave blank for no end date). Choose the locations where the code applies.
- Save. The status updates on its own: Scheduled before the start date, Active during the window, and Inactive once it ends or is turned off.
Two rules to keep in mind while saving:
- You cannot save two active codes with the same name.
- The end date has to fall after the start date.
What guests see at checkout
- The promo code field appears on the payment step, whether or not any codes exist.
- When a guest applies a code, it is checked to confirm it exists, is active, is inside its date window, applies to the location, and meets any minimum spend. The code is checked again when the guest submits payment.
- The discount comes off the subtotal. Taxes, fees, and gratuity are added on top, and the discount cannot take the subtotal below zero.
Where the discount shows up after booking
The applied code and its discount appear on the confirmation page, in confirmation emails, on event documents, and in the billing widget.
